Not a lot of time to do a proper review – I just got word that Woo Themes has released a free Ecommerce theme and a free Ecommerce plugin to go with it. If you’ve never heard of Woo Themes, let me tell you a bit about them. Woo Themes are built on a time-tested, solid framework, and are designed by designers. Which means they work well and look great!
It wasn’t all that long ago that I went looking for a shopping cart to use with WordPress. And there just wasn’t much out there. But now, as supply has met demand, there are more and more solutions available. Not just shopping carts, but entire WordPress store-fronts. - Your products can have options like different sizes, different colors, etc.
- Sell physical or downloadable products
- Tabbed product info: Description, Additional Info, and Reviews
- Built-in backoffice with charts, and customer and order control
- Inventory management is included, you simply enter the number of a product that you start with, and WooCommerce will automatically decrement that amount as sales are made
When you click the link to visit the site, look for a yellow bar across the top of the page. It says “NEW! We’ve just released WooCommerce. Simple & Easy e-commerce for your WordPress website. Learn More“. You want to click on that LEARN MORE link to see the new ecommerce theme.

Seriously, there are some add-ons you may want to purchase, and there are some other ecommerce themes available that aren’t free. If you run a lot of websites, you may even want to purchase a membership – where you get ALL the 104 Woo themes for one price. But the free things are totally free and are very functional on their own.
Since I haven’t tested WooCommerce myself, I’m not giving any ratings. I will give a good recommendation for WooThemes in general, based on having used them. And I WILL be testing this theme and plugin in the near future, so check back later for my more-informed review of the WooCommerce theme and plugin.
