I know you think I’ve got to be kidding, talking about a plugin with a name like WP LAPDANCE, right? But I’m not. The guy who had this plugin developed is pretty crazy, and his thinking is that you will be able to buy a lot of lap dances with the money you can earn using his plugin. Or make mortgage payments, or buy cars and trips, or whatever floats your boat!
WP Lapdance is an exit popup on steroids. I know you’ve seen those oh-so-irritating exit popups that say “Wait! Stay on the page for a special offer!” and then give you the choices of ”OK” or “Cancel”. If you don’t read carefully, you’ll click on the one that you think will get you out of there, but is actually the one that will keep you there. Tricky. Sometimes, the special offer is a reduced price, and that can be a good thing, if you are interested in the product, but sometimes, it is nothing more than the same page again! Nothing special about it, it’s just a way to keep you there. VERY irritating!
Well WP Lapdance isn’t that kind of exit popup. You can make “pretty” popups, with interesting or useful information in them. If your visitor isn’t interested, they can click the close button, and the popup will just go away.
WP Lapdance’s exit popup will load only when your visitor leaves your site. Clicking around on your site – even clicking on ads that will take them away from your site – will not cause the popup to open. Only closing the page, or heading up to the address bar to enter a new url will cause the popup to open.
There are 2 types of exit popups that you can set up. One is “Regular”, and that is your usual plain ol’ gray dialog box. Blah. But the other one is called “Fancy” and this is the one that rocks. You can put anything in it! Images, clickable images, html, background images, even videos!
A few ideas of things you can have in your exit popup.
- A link to an affiliate product.
- A link to an affiliate site.
- Another one of your sites.
- Your email signup form.
- A link to another post you’d like your readers to read.
- A link to a free download you’re offering.
- A simple “Thanks for visiting. Hope to see you again” message.
- A survey.
And you can make them pretty. And you can brand them.
There are several effects you can choose.
- Slide in from the top
- Open in the center of the page
- Use a Lightbox effect
- Open in a new window, or not.
- Font size
- Width and height of your popup
- Background color or image
- Border style, thickness, and color
If you are redirecting to another page, you can have that page load automatically in the background, or not.
I have a little sample. It’s not great looking, I was in a hurry to get one up and going. But it has already gotten several clicks. Go here, 140 Twitter Street (opens in a new window) and then leave. I have chosen to have the page load in the background.
A Small Problem
I wrote to support about this issue. It might happen to you, too. It is possibly just based on my operating system and browser. The first time I used WP Lapdance, I couldn’t get to the Fancy setting. There was a big arrow covering the option box, and it would not move.

I finally gave up trying and choose the Regular popup option. As soon as I did, the box moved and I was able to choose the Fancy popup option. This is how it should look:

After getting the arrow out of the way that first time, it has not reappeared.
Support
Support wrote back to me right away, and I told them that I had already figured out what to do. They wrote me again, asking what my operating system was and which browser I was using. This tells me that support is good and that they care about their product.
My Opinion
I love it. It’s easy to set up, has great features, and you can do a lot with it. Support is good. The price is great, just $7! And I think it offers great benefits – as either a money maker or a list builder. It gives you one last shot at retaining your visitor.
Give it a try. I think you’ll love it. And then come back, tell us about it, and leave a link to the site you are using it on!

Hi,
Thanks for the review!
I want to ask a question about the plugin:- Has anyone tried this with adsense?
Thanks.
Gordon, That is a great idea!
