ScribeSEO Content Optimizer Review

What is ScribeSEO?

ScribeSEO Content AnalyzerScribeSEO, or just Scribe, is a new WordPress plugin that will help you optimize your blog content for the search engines, by analyzing your posts and telling you what you need to change to get better rankings in the search engines.

ScribeSEO is just going to be huge! I am using it on several websites, and let me tell ya, I love it! It’s easy to install – just upload it and activate it, like any WordPress plugin. And setup is a breeze. You simply paste the API key you will be given into a text box. And you can use this same key on as many websites as you like.

Now write your post. You have to have your title tag, meta description, and the body of your post filled in, and then ScribeSEO will be ready to do it’s magic.

You will need to have either a theme with built-in SEO capabilities (like Thesis) or the All-In-One SEO Pack plugin (get it here - it’s free), in order for ScribeSEO to work.

Click the Analyze button and sit back!

ScribeSEO analyzes your post and pops up the results in 6 different tabs.

SEO Score

First, you are given an overall analysis, or your “SEO Score”.

SEO Score

Are there keywords in your title? Are they in the right place? Is your meta-description long enough, or too long? Does your content contain too few or too many words? Do you have enough hyperlinks?

Keyword Analysis

Next, it tells you about your keywords. What are the primary keywords? What are the secondary keywords? Do you need more of certain words, or less? Closer to the start of the title? Closer to the start of the content maybe? What is your keyword density?  I mean, I’m asking the questions, but ScribeSEO is telling you the answers!

Change Keywords

Next, ScribeSEO tells you which keywords to add more of, or too subtract some of, to get the desired effect.

The next tab is the BEST part! Tags

Well, at least in my humble opinion. The plugin tells you exactly what tags to add to your post. ScribeSEO gives me tags that I would never have thought of, but when I see them, I say well duh. Why didn’t I think of that? Lots of them. And I use them, not only as my tags, but also as my meta keywords.

Now, it will sometimes pull in some keywords from the content that just aren’t right. For example, I had a post, about Twitter apps, that said something about “no snake oil salesmen”. ScribeSEO suggested “snake oil” as a tag. I deleted it, since I don’t want to attract anyone who is looking for information on snake oil, or snake oil salesmen.

But don’t get the idea that ScribeSEO pulls all the tag suggestions from your content. That’s where my duh comes in. Although it will make a few goofs, it will also give you highly relevant keywords that are not in your content, and that you probably never would have thought of.

Here’s how I do it.

I copy all the tags ScribeSEO suggests, paste them into the Meta Keywords text box. Then, I paste them again, this time into the Tags text box. It adds them all at once. Then I look them over quickly, and delete any that I think don’t fit. And then go back to the Meta Keywords and delete the non-fitters from there. This is an incredible time saver!

SERP

The fourth tab shows you what your post is going to look like in Search Results. Title and content. What users will see. How have many times have you looked up your website in the search engines, and found that the description just didn’t say what you would have liked it to say? Well, ScribeSEO gives you the chance to fix that.

SEO Best Practices

The last tab goes over general SEO practices. The why of it all. It’s good to know why.

After ScribeSEO has analyzed your content, make your changes, and then re-analyze to see how you’ve improved. But keep this in mind. ScribeSEO is a subscription payment, meaning there is a monthly charge for using it. There are 3 different price points; each allows you a certain number of evaluations per month. Each time you analyze, or re-analyze, a post, you are using one of your allotted evaluations. So make all your changes before you re-analyze. I just want you to be forewarned, so you don’t keep re-checking and re-checking the same post.

There is a so much more to ScribeSEO, but the best way to find out about it is to take it for a test drive. There is a free 5 or 10 post trial available, and I just betcha, after trying it out, you’re gonna want it! Oh, and one more thing. There are some big name people behind Scribe, including Brian Clark, Copyblogger. And just like CopyBlogger, this plugin is a class act!

My Overall Opinion

Excellent. Useful. Easy to use. Well worth the cost. Use ScribeSEO and a spell checker, and all your content will be great!
